Created by ICLEI and the Federal City of Bonn, Daring Cities is a virtual, action-oriented forum to recognize and empower courageous urban leaders – including mayors and other decision-makers, technical staff, researchers, private sector representatives, and community organizers – to disrupt business-as-usual and shift towards business-as-possible. Daring Cities showcases and catalyzes exemplary local climate action to tackle the climate emergency, including ambitious resilience-building and climate mitigation efforts.
adelphi and GIZ co-host “Global Recovery: An Imperative for Multi-Level Governance” on monday, 19th of october from 10:00 to 11:30 UTC+2. In this event, we will harvest from existing practical experiences of collaboration across governance levels that have been tested, revisited and demonstrated on the ground. Hon. Richard Gomez, Mayor, City of Ormoc (Philippines); Peter Odhengo, Head of the Climate Finance Unit, Kenyan National Treasury as well as Marco Schiewe, Project Manager, Financing Energy for Low-carbon Investment – Cities Advisory Facility, GIZ and European Investment Bank will share insights on that matter.
Participants will learn directly from local and national policymakers and their allies about common obstacles and success strategies for implementing local climate projects and access finance, which can in turn aid in the progressive development of more ambitious national targets. Participants will be able to apply the practical insights into their own work along the entire policy cycle – from planning processes to financing climate action.
