"Enhanced National Urban Policies and Vertical Integration: Governance - Capacities - Finance for Local Climate Action"
As powerful drivers for climate action throughout the world, cities and sub-national authorities are important actors: they translate national targets into action and develop local solutions. But they cannot act alone. For achieving sustainable cities and tackling climate change, coordination and cooperation between all levels of government and sectors of society is needed. From local to national.
Leading up to the ninth session of the World Urban Forum in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, adelphi, UN Habitat Asia Pacific Regional Office and the UN-Development Account are hosting this joint workshop to create a space for mutual learning and exchange on how vertical coordination and cooperation can foster local climate action and sustainable urbanisation.
The workshop will build on the experiences of the project “Vertical Integration and Learning for Low-Emission Development in Africa and Southeast Asia (V-LED)” and the “National Urban Policies” (NUP) initiative.
