In VIETNAM, cities in the central region are growing, balancing out the economic and political centres in the north and south. They are also highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Whilst Vietnam formulated a comprehensive set of climate instruments at the national level, there are still challenges in coordinating the implementation between the national, provincial and city levels.

UN-HABITAT and adelphi are building on this momentum of urban expansion and strong political commitment to reduce the vulnerability to Climate Change whilst promoting Green Growth. The project will provide platforms for policy dialogues and exchanges to discuss pragmatically issues of coordination around themes such as low carbon development, urban pollution and waste management, urban planning whilst risk-proofing infrastructures and protecting people. Whilst Vietnam is host of many great experiences, the project wants to promote exchange so as to make sure great ideas do spread.
